Thank you Trail Angels

25 August 2020 – Thank you Nikki Haywood from Trail Angels for the generous donation of 4 bicycles to BEN. We have selected a woman’s empowerment group in Grabouw to receive the bicycles.
If anyone would like to donate their “previously loved” bicycles to BEN, we will find homes for them – and improve mobility through the use of a bicycle. Contact BEN on 021 7884174 or info@benbikes.org.za

Herberg Children’s Home in Robertson receives 50 bicycles

BEN and Rotary Club Stellenbosch (Derek Moss) proudly partnered to sponsor 20 bicycles to the Herberg Children’s Home in Robertson.

The Herberg employs 29 members of staff. The Management team consists of the principal, three social workers, bookkeeper/promotions manager and a senior child care worker.

The Herberg Children’s Home was started during the flu epidemic of 1918. These orphans were cared for in an ordinary home. This home was replaced by The Herberg Children’s Home and was housed in the Old Herberg, currently a block of flats. The new buildings were first occupied during 1980.

They currently have 122 boys and girls who are accommodated in 7 housing units. Fourteen children between the ages of 6 to 18 are cared for in the units for children that are of school going age. The pre-school section accommodates the babies and little ones from birth until they are about six years old.

It was with great pleasure for us to aid the children with the happiness of a bicycle.  Please watch the safety training video and cycle safely.

Do you have a TV to donate to BEN?

Do you have a spare TV to donate to BEN? If you do, we could put it to very good use!

We would like to install a TV in our workshop to display the very knowledgeable Park Tool videos – “Know your bicycle mechanics”. These videos can be found on our website https://www.benbikes.org.za/know-your-mechanics/

Exhibiting these videos will be of great help/knowledge to visiting bicycle mechanics and individuals wanting to learn more on how to service and care for their bicycles.

If you are able and kind enough to donate a TV, then please contact Sue on 0718778915 or email sue@benbikes.org.za.

We would greatly appreciate it.
