A sad loss to BEN

27th September 2021 – It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved colleague Tony Florence who was laid to rest today after passing on 18 September 2021. Our hearts are with his wife Brenda and his loving family. He will be sorely missed at BEN!

Bike4All’s have arrived!

27th September 2021 – After 10 months of waiting our Bike4All Bicycles have arrived.  In January 2017, the Pedal Power Association (PPA) and Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN) combined forces to launch the “Bike4All” programme. The programme has a strong, yet simple vision: Put more people on bicycles.  Bicycles will be used for funded projects.  Please contact us on info@benbikes.org.za if you are interested in funding a project.

Heidepeak NHW delighted with bicycles

Heidepeak Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) were beyond excited to receive their 6 bicycles on the Provincial Sustainable Transport Programme (PTSP bicycle distribution) on Thursday, 16th September. United with the South African Police Service and the Community Policing Forum, they work together to combat crime in the community. Youth outreach organisation benefit from PSTP Bicycle Distribution

8 September 2021 – African Jam Outreach organization in Grassy Park received 16 bicycles on the Provincial Sustainable Transport Programme (PSTP bicycle distribution).  Africa Jam Youth Outreach is a volunteer-driven youth empowerment organization seeking to provide youth with safe alternative programmes to unlock their potential. These programmes are run in townships where there is an excessive amount of gang related activity and underage drinking. We hope to achieve a positive impact to this organization through the use of bicycles. Bicycles do change lives for the better

On Thursday 26th August 2021 we delivered 5 bicycles to Change Makers in Worcester.
The ministry assists men to break free from the stronghold of gangs and drugs, and for them to find purpose, wholeness and fulfilment in life. It also empowers them to be role model fathers. These bicycles were distributed by the Western Cape Government – Transport and Public Works, Cape Town through the Provincial Sustainable Transport Programme. This is a joint partnership with Pedal Power Association, Qhubeka Charity and Bike4All. We wish Change Makers Worcester all the best with their programme, which is proving a huge success.

PSTP bicycle distribution into Prince Albert Skills School

The Prince Albert Skills School received 16 bicycles on the PSTP Bicycle Distribution on Tuesday, 24 August 2021. The school teaches life and work skills to 15 male teenagers who are no longer in formal schooling. This distribution was made possible through the Western Cape Government – Transport and Public Works, Cape Town Provincial Sustainable Transport Programme. Malmesbury scholars receive Bicycles

Thursday, 19th August 2021 – It’s new bike day for many scholars in Malmesbury & Darling. Liebenberg Primary, Wesbank Secondary School Schoonspruit Sekonder and Vooruitsig Primary School each received 60 bicycles for worthy scholars on the Earn-to-Learn programme. This was made possible through the Western Cape Government – Transport and Public Works, Cape Town Provincial Sustainable Transport Programme (PSTP bicycle distribution). Proudly partnered with BEN, Pedal Power Association, Qhubeka Charity. Rola Motor Group proudly sponsored 10 of those bicycles to each school.
