12 bicycles, were handed over to the Prince Albert Community Trust who have done phenomenal work during the pandemic, serving 47000 meals to those in need. Initially all the focus was on scholar mobility. However Covid-19 has helped us to refine our approach. This has also unified civil society organisations, mentioned Tim Mosdell

BEN and Rotary Club Stellenbosch (Derek Moss) proudly partnered to sponsor 20 bicycles to the Herberg Children’s Home in Robertson.
The Herberg employs 29 members of staff. The Management team consists of the principal, three social workers, bookkeeper/promotions manager and a senior child care worker.
The Herberg Children’s Home was started during the flu epidemic of 1918. These orphans were cared for in an ordinary home. This home was replaced by The Herberg Children’s Home and was housed in the Old Herberg, currently a block of flats. The new buildings were first occupied during 1980.
They currently have 122 boys and girls who are accommodated in 7 housing units. Fourteen children between the ages of 6 to 18 are cared for in the units for children that are of school going age. The pre-school section accommodates the babies and little ones from birth until they are about six years old.
It was with great pleasure for us to aid the children with the happiness of a bicycle. Please watch the safety training video and cycle safely.

Happy 83rd Birthday to Louis de Waal.
Louis, steaming ahead strongly, who has done so many different things in his life, ranging from family man, civil engineer, rugby player, cyclist, the Table Mountain man, the leader of numerous civic and sporting bodies and most importantly to us, our Chairman and Founder of Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN).
Louis, always cheerful, enthusiastic, encouraging, with a sense of always caring for those around him.
Well done, Louis. You’ve been and remain a role model for many to follow and admire.
We wish you the happiest of birthdays and look forward to celebrating with you soon.
